Tip: Making Microsoft Word More SEO Friendly

As an SEO I always deal with one or the other type of hierarchy so indentation and bullet points are a key feature for me. Microsoft Word has one very annoying thing about it and that is when you TAB a bullet point it adds a tab character instead of indenting to a new hierarchy level. A simple Google search discovered the following steps which happened to solve my problem:

Microsoft Office Button > Word Options > Proofing > Auto Correction Settings > Auto Correct Options > Auto Format As You Type:

Tick: “Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspace” and you’re done.

Now when you work with Word simply press tab and watch your bullet points do what they are supposed to!
