Hotspot Meets Google Places Meets SERP Personalisation
We all know that Google is going way personal on few things; well that is how SERP is looking nowadays, up close and personal. Google is trying to enhance user experience by bringing personalization more and more into their search results, and that is set for everything including Google places and their last years product, Hotspot.
Hotspot relies on one thing that was recently rubbed into web owner’s face, especially if we are talking about e-commerce websites, and that is user reviews. So Google did the next logical thing, they integrated their Hotspot product of million+ users into Google places where 50+ million locations are already marked.
So what does this mean for the SEO world, another obstacle, another update to deal with? No, like every update this one shows an opportunity for those who know where to look. Without any SEO small companies already know that they will benefit from this as the last few months significantly pushed small companies up the ranks due to better customer service and better user reviews.
As for the search engine optimisation side and how SEO’s will take advantage of this situation that is not yet 100% clear, but we can say for sure that Hotspot can be pushed through the social networks and blogging communities to gain the advantage. Like Google +1, Hotspot is another thing companies with hungry audience can use. If a company has a good relationship with their customers and audience they can easily push their Hotspots through social media networks like Twitter and Facebook or through their blogs and incite people to share positive reviews though simple blog posts. But in the end it all depends on the quality of the service, but with a right approach everyone can benefit from this new move by Google.
