Google Places Listing Optimisation
Local searches are gaining in volume, which is a fact. A clear presence on the web can increase your outreach and gain you more customers. Google Places is still not utilised by a great number of businesses, and that is a great mistake. To maximise your efforts online you need to do everything in your power. Just creating your listing in Google Places or other local listings is not enough, you need to optimise your Google Places listing.
Google Places optimisation is not hard; in fact you can do it in 15 minutes. As a part of the branding effort and also a way to get your contact details more available you need to enter the correct details regarding your location, phone number, business hours as you stated on your website and on every other site. Make sure you use your brand name and not the keywords you wish to rank for in the “Basic Information” section, you can place your keywords in the description text.
Fill all the required information, your business hours, working days, are you going out on the field or provide services strictly from the office. Next up is choosing categories and adding your description. Make sure you maximise your listing by choosing all of the 5 categories, start with the most relevant one and add 4 more that related closely to your business. You have 200 characters for your business description, this is where you can add one or two keywords related to your work. Create an accurate description that has your main keywords in it but has a call to action, just like you would for your SERP description.
Make sure to fill the “Addition Details” section, which is most often neglected. This is a part where you can add your services, which are most likely your keywords as well and add more relevance to your listing. The last part is to add images and videos. You can add up to 10 images of your business and 5 videos. You should never skip this part, make sure your images include your brand logo and photos of your offices from upfront and even a few inside the office. And lastly, make sure that your map marker is in the exact place.
