Google Coordinate
Google Coordinate is an enterprise service designed to oversee and manage mobile teams.
By utilising several existing technologies integrated into a new framework Google now offers their enterprise users ability to organise, track and coordinate staff ‘on the road’ more efficiently. Although similar technologies have already been implemented in numerous areas (including emergency services, delivery companies…etc) Google offers simple and cost-effective alternative which integrates with everything “Google” already.
Main features include:
- Real-time location sharing
- Data recording
- Team creation
- Job management
- Overview of current and past jobs and locations
One existing and well established system of similar type is addFleet. Google’s new feature has an introductory price of $15 per user per month until September 1, 2012. Reactions to Google Coordinate are so far somewhat sceptical. Many feel that $15 per user is not needed as users already have access to Google Latitude, others speculate that the system would slow them down even more while at work.
Google coordinate also works with an API for integration within existing systems.
