Google Archive News
In their information preservation initiative, Google introduces many pages of books and news materials available for search by public. Although OCR technology has been around for decades we still don’t seem to be able to get it right. For example if you search for “SEO” in archives you will get some curious results such as:
Source query: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=seo&tbm=nws&tbs=ar:1
In the first example the map contains the word “SEA” which was recognised as “SEO” and in the second case the last letter “D” in “ACCUSED” was confused with an “O”.
