Google Analytics Easter Egg: Play Your Traffic as Music

Ever wondered how your website traffic sounds like? Well now you can hear it thanks to Google Analytics.

Last year I did something nerdy and cool. I exported our website traffic data in CSV and converted it into MIDI. The notes found their way into a music composition program called “Reason” and made much noise that afternoon. Today, I notice this “note” icon above the traffic graph and as if somebody at Google read my thoughts – it plays your traffic data for you!

In new Google Analytics interface, under standard reporting / audience overview select monthly view. Now you should have a little note icon such as the one in the screenshot above. Select your instrument (Piano or Sitar) and it will start your data melody.

It has no practical purpose, but it did make my day.
