Cool Google Search Tricks

Google Search TricksThe internet is becoming more and more pronounced in a modern and changing society. With people coming to rely on it to get their information, meet people with similar interests, and so on, it is no wonder that search engines would come into development. Google has proven itself to be a large force in this area, with millions of users coming to visit every day.

But besides looking up your favorite music group, there are ways that you can utilize Google to the fullest. Below are just a few cool tricks that Google has up for anyone to try.

1. If, by chance, you somehow find yourself in a situation where you do not have any kind of physical dictionary handy, fear not. Google has the solution. Say that a particular word has you stumped on the meaning. What can you do to rectify this? Simply type ‘define:word’ into the search bar, placing the particular unit of language you would like to learn more about after ‘define.’ Once you have hit enter, you will then be taken to an extensive list of the different kind of things your chosen word refers to. You may find out that your word also refers to a point in history, a play, or anything else not previously known, as well.

2. Perhaps you are in need of assistance with a particular math formula. Google has this area covered, too. The only step you need take is putting the problem into the search bar, making sure that it is accurate to the fullest so that there will not be any miscommunication. Place an ‘=’ at the end, and then do a search. What you should find at the top of the results is the answer to the question.

3. Besides math questions, you can also use the Google calculator function in order to convert currency. If your goal is to find out how much an American dollar is worth in Japanese yen, type ‘usd to yen’ in the Google search bar, and the results will give you what you seek. This can work for all kinds of different currency; the possibilities are almost endless. If you desire to know what time it is in Japan, all you need do is ask ‘What time is it in Japan’, or a city such as Tokyo. Cool, huh?

4. There is yet another attractive feature to Google; movie show times. Write in the movie you wish to see, while also remembering to include your zip code. With any luck, you will find several theaters in your area hosting the movie, and can make the appropriate plans. There is no need to call anybody or worry about getting the information wrong.

5. Many people go online to find the music they like, and Google provides a feature to accommodate. The magic words consist of ‘-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “title here”‘ and should be typed exactly as written, hereby replacing the last part for the name of the song. Google has more than meets the eye; all one has to do is explore and have fun.
