YouTube Wants Your Real Name

YouTube now wants to know your real identity, not just your nickname. In efforts to create a ‘single unified product’ Google is self-canonicalising at every possible step and this is just one of them.

While editing one of my recent videos, I was offered to used my real name instead of my YouTube nickname:

Demo of the latest Chrome experiment which allows you to see global small arms and ammunition trade in an interactive 3D environment.

“The tool was produced by Google’s Creative Lab team in collaboration with theIgarape Institute. More than 1 million data points on imports and exports of small arms, light weapons and ammunition between 1992 and 2010 and across 250 states and territories across the world were provided by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) small arms database.
