Google has introduced a new filter option for its advanced search function. Under the “Advanced Search” link on Google’s home page is the option to filter search results by reading level. The default option shows no reading levels, and all search results show up just like they always have.

Backtype is a new marketing intelligence service launched by Christopher Golda and Mike Montano. It allows users to find, follow, and share blog comments made about different sites across the Internet. It tracks the “social impact” of websites and companies by finding blog posts on sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Digg, and reddit.com that mention the site.
Piwik is an open source alternative to Google Analytics, built on PHP and MySQL. The initial development was in France and it already has a decent following in Europe and Asia. Most of the developers are interns from companies like Amazon and Intel.
Imagine if you discovered that the local phone book was missing entire city blocks worth of businesses only because the primary language of the area was not English. Although these businesses speak English and may offer services you need, you’ll never know they exist because the phone book’s creators don’t understand what they do.
Unfortunately, the internet can be a scary place these days, especially for parents who may not be very tech savvy or who don’t know what their children are doing online. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be that way – when you talk to your children teach them to use proper caution online, they can go online without you having to worry about what might happen.
Twitter announced this week that they have launced their own official “Tweet” button. Websites such as Facebook and Google have already had a button that allows their users to share information for quite some time now, and Twitter has now decided to get in on the action.
