Google has introduced two updates to rich snippets including global support of product rich snippets and HTML input inclusion in rich snippet testing tool.

Product rich snippets give us the ability to display price, availability, ratings and similar extra information to our core snippet.

 

Google Currents Now Available Worldwide

For the past few months, Google Currents has been in various states of testing and review while its parent company irons out the wrinkles. Only US customers have had access to its web-based and mobile service, at least until now. That all changes with the debut of Google Currents for international users, which delivers Currents to UK readers for iOS and Android.

Recently, the inaugural award recipients were announced on Google’s blog. Each student will receive $20,000 to study in areas related to journalism, media technology and computer science.

 

Publication Metrics Update on Google Scholar

Google has released a service that allows professionals in a given field to quickly and easily determine the popularity of various journals and conferences within their field of expertise. Known as Google Scholar Metrics, the service allows a user to specify a search term, such as “surgery,” and receive a ranking of the publications with that term that were cited the most within the last five years.

Accuracy and co-relation ranges from 60 to 90 percent with adjustment of different quality parameters. Our technique is still considered to be ‘work in progress’ and may not be fit for accurate automated action.
