Google Real-Time Search Shut Down

Yesterday there has been a very confusing development with the Google real-time search results, in fact, it was not available.

As we received news Google has temporarily shut down this service, for how long, we don’t know yet. But as it seems it has a lot to do with the fact that their agreement with Twitter to display their results has expired.

 

Google +1 Metrics Available in Webmaster Tools

Google is keeping busy as always, but in the last few days they have rolled out some major changes. They introduced rel=author markup as well as connection with your Google profiles, they have started Google+ project, which is still by invitation only, they started to change their design and will change it even more over the next few weeks, and starting last night we can even see +1 metrics in Google Webmaster tools.

 

Google Expands on Authorship Markup by Showing Authors in Search Results

Two weeks ago Google introduced the rel=author markup that will help content creators label their articles online. Now they are rolling out a new addition and that is to show the content creator, the author, along the search results.

So far only a small number of people is included, the ones that linked their Google profiles with their content, but anyone can participate according to Google’s blog post.

Google Instant Pages – A New Speed Update From Google

google instant pagesGoogle has rolled out a new search feature yesterday, Google Instant Pages. Instant Pages are not yet available to the public, but they will be in the coming weeks for Chrome browser. Google also stated that their Instant Pages update is open source and that other browsers are free to update it into their functionality.

 

Facebook Shares in the World of Link Building and Rankings

There has been a lot of talk in the past few weeks about Facebook Shares and whether they are influencing rankings directly, in other words, are they a ranking factor for Google. There were some vague answers from Matt Cutts, discussions by Danny Sullivan and Rand Fishkin and after all that most people were still confused, even though both Rand and Danny stated a few times that Shares are a correlating factor, not a causing one.
