Similar to what Iain has said with networking on Twitter, I'd also suggest people who are keen on SEO do as much of it as they can via other online mediums such as LinkedIn groups forums etc and offline as well. Proximity is power and the more people you surround yourself with and learn from the faster you'll excel in your knowledge and expertise.

Thanks for sharing Luke and welcome to the game!

Your “tl:dr” section sums things up quite nicely! I'd suggest re-visiting this blog in six months' time and writing about how your understanding has grown, perceptions have changed, etc.Good work.P.S. Blogs are great for the detail, but to keep on top of things you really need to be following and eventually engaging with the right folks on Twitter. Who the right folks are is something you really need to judge for yourself. We're all individuals, so you need to find people you feel you personally can learn from.

I started full-time in this industry about 18 months ago and it’s amazing how quickly you learn new things and take on new ideas.
